Sad News

You have probably already heard the sad news that after five years, we have decided to close the Knit Nook. Many factors led to this decision, but the main reason is that we have been hit very hard by the economic downturn. Closing so soon was definitely not part of the plan. I always thought that my children would go to Bloom and come hang out at the yarn store after school. That they would grow up sitting at that big old table coloring, doing homework (and hopefully) knitting. But it just wasn't meant to be. It makes me sadder than I can even say...I just don't have the words. (And don't forget, I have my MFA in Creative Writing--a masters degree in figuring out how to say something!)

But even now, I have no regrets. The last five years have been a blessing. I got to do what I loved for five years. I might not have made much money, but being able to take all the yarn I ever wanted right off the shelves made me the envy of every knitter. And most importantly, I have formed more friendships in that tiny little store than in my whole entire life. My life is better because I owned the Knit Nook. And even though the store will close this spring, I know that I have made friendships that will last a lifetime.

Thank you so much for five wonderful years.

Love,
Kristin

Sad news, indeed. I'll be buying as much yarn as I can afford, right up to the end. Thanks for making the shop such a great place to learn!

I am so sorry to hear this. I am still fairly new to Louisville, and will attend my first Stitch-n-Bitch tomorrow evening. I was hoping to make this a new Thursday night affair.

I know you all have been a wonderful anchor in this community, and I hope you will continue with your passion in whatever capacity it may be.

I was going to be the old lady coming into her store every day. The Knit Nook got me through my divorce and gave me amazing new friends. I'll keep in touch if I have to have Stitch and Bitch at my house. At least that will give me incentive to clean! (Just keep your yarn away from Rorie the fabric devouring dog.)

I just like to say that this store has been an oasis for me as a knitter and a person. I've learned a thing or two from everyone, not just knitting wise either. Even though my capabilities have flourished because of all the help I've gotten. I just want to say Thank You for all those who made this shop possible. ^_^

I learned to knit a year ago and Kristin taught me. She also taught my mom who swore she would never be able to learn at her age. We have both enjoyed going to the Knit Nook on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings for the company.

I will make it back in soon to sign up for some classes and to stock up on yarn.

Hi Kristin and Cindy

I was sad to hear that the Knit Nook is closing it’s doors.

I’m a firm believer in the more yarn shops the better and I feel the loss of your shop as a great loss to the Kentucky fiber community.

I wish you well in your next venture. I will try to stop in sometime soon to visit.

Like Cindy the Knit Nook got me thru my divorce. I meet a lot of people and made a lot of friends. It was my oasis on the dark days and on snow days when my car wouldn't leave my street I could walk. I will miss it and everyone. Colleen
